How can you help me improve my photography?
As a member, you can avail of the various workshops the club offers with senior members who will give feedback
on black & white, colour and digital photography. The Novice Workshop is particularly good as it offers those
starting-out a platform for gaining confidence in all aspects; from photographing on a particular theme, to having
your photographs critiqued. as well as a group who are interested in documentary photography.
The club also holds periodic classes in darkroom and studio techniques as well as running competitions where
members can get feedback from an external judge. Informal advice is always offered, sometimes even without
asking for it.
Do I have to own a camera to join?
No, you don’t! But it won’t be long before you feel the need to get one and begin participating in the club’s
activities. And remember, it can be either digital, or film – the club caters for both formats.
Is there anything I have to do before I can use the club facilities
In order to get a key to enter the building outside of regular meetings you must be a member of the club for three months.
There is no key to the darkrooms so access to them requires no further steps.
The two darkrooms are available on a first-come first-served basis; but the smaller darkroom can be booked, although this is usually not necessary.
Usage of the Studio is restricted to those who have done the "Introduction to the Studio" course, run periodically at a small fee.
A member books a time in the coming week and obtains a key to the studio at one of the Tuesday night meetings. The key must be
returned at the next meeting.
How much does it cost to use the darkrooms?
It is free to fully paid-up members.
