DCC Website Gallery - Helen Hanafin's "The People of Nepal" - Fellowship Panel Exhibition

On the 25th of April 2015, Nepal suffered a devastating earthquake that shattered the lives of its gentle inhabitants.  On visiting the country later that year, I was deeply humbled by the resilience of these remarkable people.

I have chosen not to show the devastation and destruction as a result of the earthquake.  Instead, the intention of my panel is to show the normality of daily life on the streets of Kathmandu.  My objective is to portray the Nepalese people getting on with their lives, maintaining their composure and returning to normality, regardless of events.

    Eddie Chandler Gallery

A new exhibition is now in place.  UNITED Photographic Exhibitionwas created in response to the war in Ukraine. It is a collaboration between Irish and Ukrainian photographers and aims to highlight the ongoing war and its consequences.

The photographers involved are Sharon Burrell, Pauric McGroder and a Ukrainian photographer - Uliya Ger who has sought refuge in Ireland.

We need a volunteer for the Gallery for Saturday afternoon and the following week (both Morning and afternoon). Volunteering is the only way we can keep our gallery opens and it’s a great way to contribute to the club. Anyone who is interested in volunteering can register on the club website here.

    Summer walkabouts

No special expertise is required; you will simply act as a facilitator of an event in a place of your choosing for a group of 10 - 12 people. These tend to be very sociable outings, usually culminating in coffee/other beverage at the end of the evening.
