IPF Distinctions were awarded in the Dunamaise Centre, Portlaoise on Saturday 4th March.
Only four Associateships were awarded on the day and I’m delighted to report that the panels submitted by Vice President, Eamonn Lawless and Philip O Rourke were successful.

Peter MacMenamin completed a fruitful day for DCC when he was awarded a Licentiateship for his travel panel.

Congratulations to all three photographers on their great achievement.
It should be noted that the Distinctions Workshop proved to be very beneficial in helping the candidates achieve their distinctions and any members pursuing a distinction should avail of these workshops.

This is Gerry’s fifth one-man exhibition and his second exhibition in the Hunt.
I mentioned last week that the council is currently reassessing the operational structure of the club.
We are working on a system to make DCC more inclusive for members. The club is composed of numerous people with broad ranging skills and talents. We need those skills to develop the club and make it better for all. With this in mind, we asking members to devote a few hours to assist various Work Groups on a needs only basis. I’ll be at liberty to give more details of each Work Group when the structure is finalised but in the meantime I would be grateful if anybody, willing devote a little time to the Club, could contact me after the meeting.
Paddy McCabe is running a Studio Course @ 7pm this coming Thursday. The course can accommodate 8 people and cost E15. I believe there are a few places still available. Anybody interested in participating on this course should contact Paddy after the meeting. [Update 22nd March 2017: The course is now full]
Any member who has previously completed this course should apply for keys to the premises so that you can avail of the Studio and practice your lighting skills.

Every two weeks this workshop seeks to provide a safe, non-competitive platform where people starting out in photography can learn. This is achieved by setting a theme for each evening and providing constructive critique on the images presented. The next Novice Workshop will take place on Monday 3rd April and the challenge is based on the theme “Water”.
Novices will be afforded the opportunity to showcase their skills in the forthcoming Novice exhibition will be held in the Eddie Chandler Gallery from 6th - 27th May 2017.
Gallery & Visitors from Italy:
Eddie Chandler Gallery
The exhibition currently on display in the Gallery is The Silk Road which was curated by Fares Fares. This will be replaced on 1st April by an exhibition of photographs from Italian Club Foto Amatory F.Mochi. Also that day the Eddie Chandler Gallery will be inaugurated as a FIAP Gallery by the President of FIAP Riccardo Busi. We hope that a number of DCC members will be able to attend the inauguration of the gallery and the opening of the exhibition@ 4pm on Saturday 1st. April.
We would also be grateful to any members who could show our visitors around the city during their short stay. The visit and exhibition by the Italian club will be reciprocal. Next year DCC will visit Tuscany and we will have the opportunity to visit their town and their club will host an exhibition of our work.
Last week I announced that the council is drawing up a panel of people who would be willing to man the Gallery for a few hours a week on an occasional basis. We want to establish a rota as the current system is very much hit & miss. Anybody willing to become a member of that panel, and you will be called on an occasional basis only, talk to me after the meeting. Gallery Volunteers can also sign up on the Website.
Thanks to Mary O Donoghue , Noel Dunne and Maria McCormick for manning the Gallery last Saturday
Volunteers for this Sat - we welcome any offers to man the gallery during the time slots:
Please send us an email if you are available to help.
